I suffered badly with ads up to the time my laptop died last September, some were bouncing across the screen, others malicious which my antivirus did not pick up (AVG Free). Since then with my new equipment I have Kaspersky antivirus and AD block plus and touch wood have had no issues.

The ads we are now seeing as shown by Pompeyfan seem to be tied in with the problem many of us have had for some time and I would suggest before the subscription ran out. If you close the ad as shown by Pompeyfan a new window opens up advertising something or nothing.
The exact same thing happens as explained by others when, before these ads started to appear, you clicked on the subject matter within a grouping and so I just think this is an extension of a problem we have had for a while. Feel free to shoot the messenger but I thought it might help if I put this into context.
Ps - hope the new jobs going well.

Duly noted - however, I'm still a bit confused as to why these ads seem to affect some forum-folk and not others. Obviously, if your browser of choice is equipped with adblock software of some sort, or your security soft/hardware is clever enough to spot these things and kill them, then you won't know the irritation that this thread is about . However, on my new mobile, I'm using a 'vanilla' version of Chrome (ie - I've not tinkered with it yet, other than linking it to my Google account so bookmarks, passwords etc are carried over), and I'm seeing nothing popping up or bouncing when I visit this site on that device - same on the tablet.
Also kicking myself for not bunging a reminder in my calendar to renew the subscription in time. However, when I was looking for a cheap/free hosting solution to budge the forum onto, my priorities were:
1. Must be running a proven version of SQL (there are a few releases out there that are riddled with bugs)
2. Decent php parser (again - some girls are bigger than others)
3. 99%+ uptime.
4. AD FREE.
Orgfree.com ticked all the right boxes, and after considering a few other factors (trying to get as much info from the old ForumUp about data traffic, which reminded me of some phrase with the words "blood" and "stone"...), so I went ahead. Despite the fact that I've paid to get rid of the ads again, it appears that there are still problems, and (although it's effectively out of my hands), I apologise to you all.
My new domain is up and running, and I'm running tests on it - my new hosts seem to be considerably better than this bunch of morons. There was a DNS issue that I raised a support ticket for at just gone 7am on Wednesday - I received an email within 15 mins from a person (not an automated reply) to get a bit more information, the problem was identified by half past, and despite NS propagation being a slow (24-72 hours), all was sorted out this morning. Once I've done the re-structure of this forum, I'm going to take a copy of it, replicate it onto the new site and ask some of you to try it out. If those tests come back positively, then I'll propose budging this (and the often neglected Stagecoach Forum) onto this host (remaining totally separate - all that will change will be the web addresses), with a 'proper' domain name (SouthernBusForums.info/.com/.org/.whatever - ideas?). Might mean a little less headaches for me if I can manage both at the same time, and less irritation for those suffering from intrusive bouncy boxes.
I will, of course, let you all know when (if...?) I get a response.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind ads. No-one is really entitled to anything free in this world, including access to websites, benefits, bus passes.... yes, don't get me started.
I am more concerned at the style of the ads. If the forum was big enough for it to actually generate the income, I would not object to a skyscraper left and right for Amazon, Google Ads, etc; but what I have experienced on orgfree is intrusive bouncing ads, the screen replacements, the "your computer is infected, download to fix now" type scare tactics that could trip up a new member that is not wise to this world.
Almost by default, bus enthusiasm attracts a very wide range in ages, abilities and intelligence; a bit like most transport based hobbies because actually the variety and history in the UK is very interesting from both a business point-of-view with deregulation, bus wars, etc right down to the different liveries and body work.
What I worry about the most is a naive new user clicking on a dodgy ad.
Anyway, enough of the ranting.
I am using a Vanilla Chrome on my Galaxy Note 4 (Android 5.1.1) and get the ads, including the "Your Android is infected/has porn/needs an accident" pop-ups and constant vibrating. Contrary to other reports, it does not disappear, even after the time to destruction countdown reaches 0. On my stock Android browser I am also getting them.
On my Windows 10/Chrome with a few extensions; AdBlock is continually blocking two ads at every page load.
On Windows 10/Edge, the ads are also there.... and when I click on Remove Ad I get redirected to http://www.freewebhostingarea.com/removeads.html
Lastly; I don't know if it is relevant; but each time I Quick Edit a post, I see a reference to the same domain.... hang on let me save and edit this post so I can c&p it.

I had noticed the above code before when a quick edit is done, but It doesn't seem to actually do anything from what I can tell. I must confess I somehow missed this post above.
For me the adds are getting more intrusive, I'm getting one that creates an info box that kills the rest of the page and leaves me with no option but to click ok, which redirects me

I'm getting properly pissed off to be honest, to the extent that I would be willing to chip in £5 to Matt or whatever via PayPal etc so we can pay to go back to the old way of operating. A small advert banner at the top is harmless, but spyware that wants to 'clean' your PC, or adverts that kill pages outright are not what this forum is about.

The forum up forum is now generally working and still in use so if needs be we can move back to the old one. I'll tinker with the layout and see where we go.
